The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Science (GSHSS), Faculty of Arts, at The University of Melbourne is pleased to announce a partnership agreement – Cooperation Implementation Agreement 2011-2013 – with the School of International Studies at Renmin University.

The partnership is designed to enhance opportunities for academic cooperation and the exchange of teaching and research staff, and professional staff. 

The partnership agreement will also enable eligible students from the School of International Studies to apply for the Pathway to Melbourne Program.

Pathway to Melbourne Program

The Pathway to Melbourne Program is available for students who have completed, or are in the process of completing, a two-year Master of Arts in a specified area at the School of International Studies.

Students will be eligible to apply for entry into the Master by Coursework programs in a specified area at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts.

Successful applicants will receive 100 credit points toward the 200 point program.

Scholarships

Master by Coursework Scholarships offered by the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences:

  • Four Dean's Scholarships 四份院长奖学金:

    50% fee remission discounts, awarded to high achieving students, based on academic merit.
  • Four Hawthorn English Language Centre Awards 四份霍桑英语语言中心奖:

    100% fee remission, awarded to high achieving students, who have an IELTS of 6 and high academic merit.

Pathway to Masters by Research (MA) and PhD
进入研究硕士及博士的途径

School of Public Administration and Policy students who wish to pursue a Research Higher Degree will need research experience.

Minimum Entry Requirements 最低录取要求:

Completion of a four year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree with a research component or equivalent in the appropriate area of study or closely related area.

  • Honours thesis result at least equivalent to an H2A (75%); and
  • An overall Honours result at least equivalent to an H2B (70%) for Masters, and H2A (75%) for the PhD at The University of Melbourne.


Applicants without the required Honours degree may still be considered with significant fourth year, Master by Coursework minor thesis, or Postgraduate Diploma research experience. Students who wish to undertake the minor thesis option should have research experience that is relevant to the proposed topic of research.
