The Graduate School and the Faculty of Arts offer a range of generous scholarships, prizes and awards across individual postgraduate programs and disciplines for Australian and international students. For All Masters by coursework programs
Alma Hansen Scholarship
This scholarship is open to local and international Masters by Coursework students in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences who have completed undergraduate study at the University of Melbourne. It can be used by the recipient to assist with travel to pursue studies in Australia or overseas (shared between two or more students). Gandioli Fumagalli Foundation Milan Internship
The generous benefaction of the Annemarie and Arturo Gandioli Fumagalli Foundation has provided this scholarship, which is open to Australian residents who are fluent in both written and spoken Italian. It provides the successful candidate with financial assistance to travel to Milan to participate in an internship program at a recognised cultural organisation and is valued at between $5,000 and $10,000. Anna Lodewyckx Icelandic Travel Scholarship
This scholarship is open to local and international graduates or final year Honours undergraduates of an Australian University or any university in the world who have knowledge of a Scandinavian language. The recipient must be willing to undertake an approved course of study in a Scandinavian university. For the purposes of this scholarship, the Scandinavian countries are Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland or the Faroe Islands. Language scholarships
Elizabeth and Nicholas Slezak Scholarship
This a travelling scholarship which is open to local and international University of Melbourne students (coursework or research) who are studying French, Italian and Spanish at the University of Melbourne. For more information, please visit the Elizabeth and Nicholas Slezak Scholarship web page.
Emma Grollo Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to local and international current students of the University of Melbourne, who are studying Italian language or literature. It can be used to pursue studies in Italian language or literature at an Italian University or other Italian institution approved by the Council (can be shared between two or more students). Creative Writing/Literature scholarships
Felix Meyer Scholarship
This scholarship is open to local and international University of Melbourne graduates. It can be used to undertake advanced studies in literature in any form and in any language during the tenure of the scholarship (can be shared between two or more students). H.B. Higgins Scholarship
This scholarship is open to local and international applications who are BA or BA (Hons) graduates from University of Melbourne, (OR who are continuing their graduate studies in research or coursework at the University of Melbourne AND who are of not more than two years' standing on the first day of March of the year in which the award is made) to undertake advanced studies with the aim of enhancing the study of poetry in any language in Australia or in other countries. D.J. O'Hearn Fellowship
The DJ (Dinny) O'Hearn Memorial Fellowship is a biennial award that offers a residency at the Australian Centre, University of Melbourne, to emergent Australian writers.
