“Upon arrival we discovered that we were a group of students from 13 different countries from five continents: Africa, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Simply put, there is no better way to engage in the learning experience about issues of security in a globalising world then in a classroom with bright individuals from around the world.” Brooke Kelly, Master of International Relations student and participant in the 2011 U21 Advanced International Study subject in Delhi.
"There was a lot of group work in which we did exercises focusing on the social policy problems in Indonesia. We discussed many issues such as education, health care and poverty. We also took a field trip to visit a non-government organisation that was very community-focused. We were able to meet the community members and the Indonesian students helped to interpret our interaction with them. During this trip we discussed how the NGO was set up, how it had achieved success and what impact it had on the community." Maria Rae, Master of International Relations student and participant in the 2011 U21 Advanced International Study subject in Jakarta.

Seminars and Public Lectures
Throughout the year the Faculty of Arts and the University of Melbourne host many events for the public and exclusively for students. The events give you the opportunity to hear world leaders speak and to engage in intellectual discussions about current issues and events. In 2011 the Graduate School is holding careers seminars to help students better understand how to find job opportunities and apply for positions.
